Rekha is the Chief Control Officer for Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) and leads a global team which sets direction and oversees Risk and Control activities across RBWM. The primary objective of the Chief Control Office function as part of the First line of defence is to continuously strengthen the Risk and Control environment while ensuring alignment with RBWM’s business strategy. The role expands to cover the broad spectrum of Non-Financial risks RBWM is exposed to.
Rekha has been in the financial services industry for almost 27 years and prior to joining HSBC she held a number of Senior Management roles within Citi Group. These included Business Risk and Control for Consumer and Commercial business for EMEA; Head of Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime, UK; and Head of Nordic Operations for Consumer business.
Her wealth of experience has been of immense value to the Chief Control Office that has evolved considerably under her leadership.
Rekha is an alumnus of the Indraprastha College for Women (Commerce) and XLRI (PGDM in Finance & Marketing).
Rekha is an avid traveller and a physical fitness enthusiast often opting for activity filled holidays, cycling, walking and trekking adventures. Rekha and her husband have two grown up children and in their spare time they love to spend time walking their golden retriever.
