Debarati Sen was appointed as the Vice President & General Manager for 3M Abrasives Systems Division from June 1, 2019.
Prior to her current role, Debarati was Managing Director, 3M India Region leading 3M’s public entity in India as well as India Region overall. Her previous role was as Director, Corporate Sales and US Atlantic & Pacific Branch Operations in 2016 and Director, Global Oil & Gas from 2012 to 2015. Her career with 3M started in 1996 in Bengaluru.
Debarati’s career spans over 27 years in Asia and US, with almost 22 years in 3M in various global, regional and country roles driving marketing, sales and customer engagement, product development, business development, strategy as well as mergers and acquisitions. She has also held the position of Vice President of Global Marketing – Equipment Protection Business at Pentair, Inc.
Debarati is on the Board of United Way, Bengaluru and during her time in India was the Co- Chair for Confederation of Indian Industry’s(CII) National Committee on Technology and a member of the CII Karnataka State Council. She is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and volunteers her time in addressing issues like homelessness and poverty in the community; supporting education and empowerment in women. She has served on the national governing board of Jeremiah Program, a Minnesota based national charity and in 3M, she has served on the board of the 3M A3CTION (Asian Employee Resource Network) and as an Executive Member of 3M’s Women’s Leadership Forum.
Under her leadership, 3M India has gained nationwide recognition at prestigious forums. The company was voted 2017 Business Standard Star MNC, Forbes India 2017 Super 50, and a nation-builder in Outlook magazine.
On a personal level, she was inducted into Fortune India’s 50 Most Powerful Women in business listing for 2017.
She holds a BS/BE in Electronics Engineering, as well as an MBA in Marketing & Finance from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
