Santosh Desai is the MD & CEO of Futurebrands Consulting. Futurebrands helps global and Indian companies on conceptual and operational brand challenges and helps them succeed in business through insights & knowledge-based brand solutions. We design and bring alive the brand world for companies so that they can build deeper brand connections with people and grow brand value.

Before taking up this assignment, Santosh was the President of McCann-Erickson, one of India’s premier advertising agencies. Santosh has spent over 21 years in Advertising and was strategically involved in building key brands for a range of local and multinational clients.

Santosh Desai, is also an author, columnist and media critic. His first book on contemporary India, Mother Pious Lady: Making Sense of Everyday India, is a collection of essays that traces the evolution of middle class India over the last two decades. Santosh’s principal area of interest lies in examining the evolving nature of consumer culture in India. He has been writing a weekly column in the Times of India, “City City Bang Bang” for over 14 years.

He has been a guest lecturer at various national & international universities and has addressed the global management boards of several multinationals including Microsoft, Philips, Hershey’s, Unilever, Coke and Reckitt Benckiser.

Santosh holds a BA in Economics and a post graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. In his early career, he has also worked in FCB Ulka, Mudra Communications and Pepsico.
